Fulfill a Dream, Retain a Legacy

For those of you who received a scholarship and went on to college, remember how the scholarship helped you get started. For those of you who did not receive a scholarshop but still went on to succeed in life, think of how a scholarship may have helped you move forward more quickly on the road to success.

The Globe High School Alumni Scholarship Fund still needs your help to reach it's full endowment of $50,000 to assure funding of the annual scholarship in perpetuity. Detailed information on the origin of this scholarship can be found on the scholarship page. Of the contemporaries of scholarship founder Chuck Lee, only Betty Watson and Jukie Carnell, both of Globe, remain on the committee. Two volunteers from the 1960s, Frank Lara and Rudy Rodriguez, both Valley residents, have come aboard. The committee needs more and younger volunteers!

The fund, which soared to over $47,000 after the funeral of its founder, Chuck O. Lee, in April 2001, dipped to $35,000 at one point but has rebounded slightly (currently at $41,036) due to the recent contributions for the state championships. However, due to scholarships awards in the last two years and the decline in contributions, only $1,750 was awarded this year (2003) for the scholarship instead of the usual $2,000.

I again ask you to open your wallets and your checkbooks and contribute to this worthy scholarship so it can reach it's full endowment of $50,000.

This alumni web site is for Globe High School alumni anywhere in the world. As such, it is dedicated to all students and faculty members of Globe High School, past, present, and future, in what I hope is a lasting and memorable contribution to the spirit and honor of Globe High School. I encourage classmates to submit photographs, stories, and post comments on the message board. Find out how to add your class.

Baseball Cap

Buy this great baseball cap and other products, on the The Tiger Den storefront, sponsored by Cafepress.com. Revenue generated from sales go toward maintenance of The Tiger Den web site. Twenty percent of the revenues will be donated toward the Globe High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Vietnam Losses. When I visited The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Page, I was surprised to find the names of only eleven servicemen from the Globe-Miami area. This page lists those eleven men, their branch of service, and the panels where their names are inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Feel free to visit the the shopping page and check out the advertisements there. Revenue generated from sales go toward the operating cost for these pages.

Credits for the website name go to Robert Cubitto, GHS Class of 1968. I was struggling for a meaningful name, and he came through for me.
